Brooklyn, here we come!
We just received notice from the developers of our new condo of their intention to close by January 18. So, barring any unexpected circumstances, we should be in our new digs by February 1 at the latest.
I'm really excited about moving to our new place, but also a little nervous. I'm excited that we'll finally have enough room to have people over and throw parties and such. I'm excited to be exploring a new neighborhood and a part of the city that's growing and changing really rapidly. I'm excited about having a place that's ours, that we can decorate and improve and really make our own.
I'm nervous because I've never really lived anywhere in New York besides downtown Manhattan. It's going to be a big change for me - not being able to just stumble home after a night out or run out the door and be in the middle of it all. Where we are now, I've got two branches of my gym, two branches of my bank, three grocery stores, three subway lines and a movie theater all within 4 blocks. It's not going to be the same in our new neighborhood.
Luckily, we've got a lot of friends already in the area, so we won't be discovering it all on our own. Now I've just got to get to work on convincing our Manhattanite friends that going to Brooklyn isn't like snowshoeing to Siberia.
